Land vs Sea

Part puzzle, part game. One of you plays Land, the other Sea, and you take turns placing double-sided hex tiles to build a single map together. Land scores completed land areas, Sea scores completed sea areas, a point per tile. You hold two tiles at a time with one side showing and the other hidden until played, so you're always planning around half the information.

Some tiles carry bonus points for whoever closes their area, which makes finishing your rival's area occasionally the right move. Play Again and Steal tiles let you control tempo. The basic game suits light and family players; once it's familiar, you can switch on Mountain and Coral chains, Caravan and Ship trade routes, and Waypoints.

Plays head to head with 2, in teams with 4, or as a harder asymmetric 3-player game where the third player is the Cartographer and scores by connecting Mountain and Coral.
